Container traffic record in 2017

In 2017 the Port of Thessaloniki achieved a record in container traffic with over 400,000  ΤEUs in the last decade. THPA SA reached its second best performance of the past 20 years (handling 401,746 ΤEUs), marking a significant increase compared to 2016.

Today, the Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Konstantinos Mellios and the CEO of THPA SA, Dimitris Makris, congratulated the company executives and employees for the record of container handling, which was achieved despite the negative consequences of the strike of the customs officers' night shift at Gate 16 of  the Port of Thessaloniki.

It must also be noted that a significant increase, was recorded in 2017 in conventional cargo traffic, compared to 2016.

Mr. Makris pointed out that "THPA SA, continuing the close cooperation with the shipping agents, customs agents and the stakeholders of the port community, is constantly seeking to strengthen the position of Thessaloniki Port in the shipping market of the region."
