Technical Environment
At the Athens Stock Exchange, we have already implemented the new FIX Trading protocol into production and are continuously upgrading the trading matching engine, with the ultimate goal of enabling High Frequency Trading.
The next step is the introduction of a new Data Feed, which will be capable of supporting:
- International standard Data Feed protocol
- Low latency – High speed Algo & High Frequency Trading capable
- Significantly reduced latency even for low-cost TCP Data Feed solutions
The new data feed environment will offer:
- Internationally recognized Fast-FIX protocol
- Much lower latency than the existing IOCP Data Feed
- High-speed data transmission (UDP Multicast)
- Ensured data integrity (in Multicast transmission)
- Availability through TCP infrastructure to support lower-cost implementations with improved performance
Athens Stock Exchange offers to its Data Vendors the following connectivity options:
- X-connections
- Leased Lines
- Internet
- Financial NSPs
- ATHEX Data Vendors (‘Sub vendoring')
Additionally, it will leverage:
- The Exchange's Data Center infrastructure, through Proximity/Collocation services, to maximize high-speed capability in Trading & Multicast Data Feed
- The existing connectivity infrastructure for Members
The new Data Feed will be accessible via the Data Centers of the ATHEX Group (main site and Alternative site) and the ATHEX points of presence in London, via Leased Lines & GRE Tunnels, while the existing IOCP Data Feed will remain operational until early 2025 to ensure a smooth transition to the new environment.
