Tripartite meeting of the capital markets of Greece - Turkey - Israel
A tripartite meeting took place between the representatives of the stock markets of Athens, Istanbul and Tel Aviv in Athens, on June 28, 2002.
The major agencies of each market participated to the meeting, such as the stock exchanges and the Member companies Associations. In addition, the Turkish delegation included the President and Vice - President of the Turkish Capital Market Commission, who had individual business meeting with the President of the Greek Capital Market Commission.
The objective of the tripartite meeting between the three most significant stock markets in the South Eastern Europe and South Eastern Mediterranean was the exploration of forms of cooperation and its promotion.
All participants argued that in a period of intensification of competition among the stock exchanges, it would be useful acts and multilevel actions to be undertaken for the promotion of their markets within and outside of the boundaries of their regions.
In this frame, certain models of tripartite cooperation were explored, such as cross trading among Members, clearing and settlement systems, the establishment and promotion of joint indexes, as well as the establishment of a joint fund regarding the promotion of the three markets.
There was also joint agreement for a number of tripartite meetings, as well as individual meetings of the agencies of the market.
The three stock exchanges intend to invite other stock markets of the region, as well, to participate to the effort to develop the drive of the South Eastern Europe and Mediterranean.
