The Athens Stock Exchange Welcomed the Winning Team of the "CFA Institute Research Challenge"

The Athens Stock Exchange welcomed yesterday the winning team of the "CFA Institute Research Challenge," organized by the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Greece. This year, the competition was won by a team of students from the University of Macedonia, who had the honor of ringing the opening bell of the trading session.

Welcoming the students and the President of CFA Society Greece, Ms. Violeta Spyropoulou, the CFO of the Athens Exchange Group, Mr. Nikos Koskoletos, congratulated both the winning team and the organizers of this prestigious international competition in Greece. He emphasized, among other things: "The Athens Stock Exchange is the primary financing vehicle for Greek businesses, and we take pride in its role and contribution to the development of the Greek economy. Through the initiatives of CFA Society Greece, we have the opportunity to highlight the value and excellence in the fields of investment and financial science. The success of the winners demonstrates that we have the talent to create an even more efficient capital market in Greece. By working with CFA Society Greece and other market partners, we must actively promote financial education in our country to ensure the sustainability and prosperity of the Greek economy in the future."

For her part, the President of CFA Society Greece, Ms. Violeta Spyropoulou, highlighted: "The CFA Society Greece has been organizing the 'CFA Institute Research Challenge' competition for 15 years, guiding students in stock analysis and valuation. The benefits for our students from participating in this competition are significant in developing valuable skills for their professional careers. It is a great joy and honor to take part in the opening ceremony of the trading session to celebrate both the 'CFA Institute Research Challenge' competition and the victory of the University of Macedonia student team in this year’s event. We are particularly proud of the new generation of professionals in our field and the efforts made by all teams in this year's competition to analyze Titan Cement International. We would like to sincerely thank the Athens Exchange Group for this honorary invitation to today’s opening ceremony."

Since 2009, the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Greece have hosted the CFA Institute Research Challenge annually in Athens, with the participation of student teams from finance schools of Greek universities. The competition’s goal is to analyze a publicly listed company in the same manner as professional analysts. In this year’s challenge, the selected company was Titan Cement, and a total of 27 students from six teams representing five universities (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens University of Economics and Business, University of Macedonia, University of Piraeus, and University of the Peloponnese) participated. The winning team will advance to the Southern Europe regional final, where they will compete against university teams from Spain, Israel, Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey, aiming for a place in the global final.
