TARIFFS REBALANCING

Following the common E.U. practice on tariffs rebalancing (which favours the non-subsidy of one telecom service comparing to another), the the Board of OTE decided the following changes in telephony fees:1.Basic monthly fees: increase from 2400 to 2800 drachmas per month. 2.Urban calls: urban charges to all phone calls within prefecture limits are still valid (with the perspective to be applied to broader telecom regions within this year) while charges become 10,5 drachmas per minute for normal tariff hours and 10,5 drachmas per 2 minutes for reduced tariff hours (22:00 · 08:00 daily and Sundays)3.Long Distance Calls: 28 drachmas per minute around the clock from 40 drachmas that applies today. 4.The tendency is to reduce the ratio of long distance to urban call charges (tariffs convergence) that is currently the same in several E.U. countries, with the average being below 2,5. With the Board's decision the above ratio is reduced from 4,4 to 2,7.5.International Calls: Average reduction of 10% (for EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore etc. charges are 84 drachmas per minute). 6.OTE invited the mobile telephony companies to reduce charges from fixed to mobile telephony. COSMOTE already responded positively; hence fees for calls to and from COSMOTE are adjusted to 98 drachmas per minute from 110 that applies currently. 7.The above tariff adjustments, if applied to consumers' bills during last year would have resulted to a 3,3% reduction at their bill (non comprising the reduction to COSMOTE charges).
