J&P-AVAX SA signed with "EGNATIA ODOS SA" two contracts concerning the construction of the following sections of Egnatia Road:

1)"Egnatia Road: Section between the Strymonas and Mousthenis Interchanges", worth euro 59.9 million, and
2)"Egnatia Road: Section between the Mousthenis Interchange and the Symvolon Tunnel", worth euro 58.4 million.

The projects pertain to the construction of two consecutive sections of Egnatia Roads new route stretching a total of around 38.9 kilometres and connecting Strymonas and Aghios Andreas. The new road sections, flanked by the Pangeon and the Symvolon mountains, are of dual carriageway motorway standards with two lanes plus one emergency on each direction.

The works include the upgrade of the existing Strymonas Interchange, the construction of the Galipsos-Orphanion, Mousthenis and Eleftheroupolis Interchange, the construction of the 2.36-kilometre twin Symvolon Tunnel with single carriageways, the construction of a total of around 66.7 kilometres of connecting roads and byroads, as well as all linked works (junctions, sewerage, sign-posting, lighting, tunnel service buildings, bank cladding etc).

The project is due for completion in 30 months.
