The consolidated pre-tax profit of Frigoglass , for the first quarter of 2001, after minorities, reached GRD 936 millions, increased by 12% versus the respective quarter of last year. EBITDA increased by 7.4% amounting to GRD 3.9 billions with sales revenue at last year's level.

The improvement in profit is attributed to the packaging materials segment of the business while commercial refrigeration is trailing. Specifically, Nigeria contributed GRD 651 millions and VPI (PET resin) GRD 257 millions. Commercial refrigeration posted GRD 202 millions profit while plastic operations had a negative result of GRD 174 millions.
