Smaragda Rigakou is attorney at law accredited at the Supreme Court (Athens Bar, 2010). Currently she is the General Counsel, Chief Legal, Regulatory & Compliance Officer of the Athens Exchange Group. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Stock Market, Vice President of Occupational Insurance Fund of Athens Exchange Group Employees and a member of the Board of Directors of the EnΕx Clearing House S.A. In 2022 she was included in the GC Powerlist: Greece & Cyprus of Legal 500 and was awarded the gold prize in the Business Law Awards 2022 for the reformation of the legal services of the Athex Group in the category of "In-house banking and financial services team". Smaragda has worked in top tier law firms, specializing in financial, European and competition law. She graduated with honours from the Athens School of Law with an LL.M. in European Law and an MSc. in finance (with distinction). She is the author of the book "State aid rules in the financial crisis", co-author of the books "State Aid Law" and "Treaty of the European Union and Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union - Interpretation by Article"; she lectures at the University of Piraeus in e-learning courses, and she is a member of numerous legislative committees for the adoption of capital market legislation. |
